RTC VISITS NIGERIA

Last month, the RTC team, led by the Director embarked on a trip to Abuja, Nigeria. Part of the RTC’s mission is to provide a mechanism to continuously build law enforcement networks to combat transnational organized crime. To achieve this, the RTC needs support and buy-in from our local counterparts and law enforcement agencies. The RTC Director met with specific high-ranking Law Enforcement officials to formally introduce the RTC program and reinforce our program objectives. Discussions centered on how the program can help meet current capacity building gaps, faced by law enforcement agencies.

Prior to departing to Abuja, the RTC team reached out to its alumni community in Abuja and extended an invitation to an informal “meet and greet” session. The RTC Director and the team met with alumni representing the Nigeria Police, Customs Services, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Ministry of Justice. These alumni had attended training between 2015 & 2018 and were very excited to interact with the Director and to meet with participants from other agencies in Nigeria. We also used this as an opportunity to solicit success stories and to gauge interest in an upcoming alumni event.

To our alumni base in Nigeria, we say “well done!!!’’. Thank you for expressing great enthusiasm and sharing in the success of the RTC program. We look forward to hosting a wonderful event in the coming year.
