2019 End of Year RTC Highlights

Another year has quickly passed, and it is with great pride that we can reflect on the many achievements of the West Africa Regional Training Center (RTC). In 2019, the RTC hosted a total of 36 on-site events – 28 training courses, 4 meetings, 3 workshops, and 1 alumni event. More than 1,200 people from 34 nations were welcomed into our center, marking 2019 as another remarkable year of growth and international collaboration.

The data below captures highlights from the 24 training courses funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL)

Countries Represented at the RTC in 2019

Through INL’s interagency partnerships, training courses were expertly delivered by instructor teams representing 11 U.S. law enforcement agencies to 823 participants from 18 countries. Law enforcement, prosecutors, and other justice officials were trained in a wide range of topics, including Cyber and Financial Crime Investigations, Countering Violent Extremism, Interdiction, Improving Criminal Prosecutions, Anti-Corruption, Anti-Human Trafficking, Anti- Wildlife Trafficking, Border Security, and Leadership. Collectively, these participants had 9,560 years of law enforcement experience.

As the final days of the year draw to a close, the RTC would like to acknowledge the efforts made by so many people throughout this time – course participants, instructing agencies, coordinating embassies, sponsors, and staff. The extraordinary commitment made by all of our staff and sponsors ensures that the RTC can continue to succeed and flourish as a learning community united in the fight against transnational organized crime.

Happy Holidays!!!
