Wildlife Trafficking Investigations Course - July 29 - August 9, 2019

The RTC successfully concluded a two-week training delivery on Wildlife Trafficking Investigations. This course brought wildlife investigators from Benin, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo. The instructor team from the Fish and Wildlife Services and Department of Justice did an excellent job in providing an overview of the various wildlife trafficking investigative topics which were reinforced through practical field exercises and role-playing activities. Throughout the course, the instructors stressed the importance of developing and maintaining global contacts to exchange and share intelligence between countries and agencies. At the end of the course, participants expressed their appreciation to the instructors for the knowledge they had imparted in them.

International Air Cargo Interdiction (IACIT) and International Border Interdiction (IBIT) Course - August 5 - 16, 2019

The RTC hosted instructors from the U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) who taught a two-week course on International Air Cargo and Border Interdiction with added instruction on fraudulent documents. Both classes brought participants from Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Togo and Cote d’Ivoire. The country representation was a good mix as it provided participants the opportunity to gain deeper insight of the various challenges facing each participating country.

In her closing remarks, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration (DCGI) in-Charge of Finance and Administration, Mrs. Judith Dzokoto-Lomoh urged participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired during their two-week stay at the RTC. She further advised them to resist the temptation of corruption in discharging their duties.
